Motorcycle 32 Club and Bikers for Babies, Kansas City 2008

Why do we ride when its freezing every Sunday morning while most people are sleeping?

We meet Sunday mornings for breakfast

Done with breakfast

So we may enjoy a Sunday morning ride

To get out of the city and see the country

Almost there

This is what its all about

Taking breaks from riding in the morning, but some of us don't want to stop

Let's go already!

Great to be out in the middle of nowhere

While most people are still asleep, we are enjoying the fresh cool air

Taking a break

A good day

Ready for the next ride!

Bikers for Babies 2008

We gather before the ride
More show up!
And more show up...
We get a crowd going
We ready to ride yet?
NOW we are ready to ride!
Thousands of bikes
With no end in sight!
Enjoying a great lunch!
Some of us are ready to ride again!

The Old Geezers Ride

Because rain or shine, a day must be enjoyed
We escape on roads to nowhere
to be where we want to be
Its always a good day to ride
Every turn leads to new places
We won't know until we get there
somewhere far away
far away
and to take a break from it all
stretching
until we ride the day out and head back
Heading back to town

Fueling up
Let's go!
Engines ready
Ninja!
Waiting for everyone else...
Doing the pre-Ninja ride dance
We're ready!
Back on the road!
Riding is freedom!
Another stretch break and turning the bikes around
Spin around!
Not a straight road in sight
Bikes everywhere
Ready for another ride next week!

Canon sx210is test pictures

These pictures from the sx210is pocket sized camera were taken around midnight from the same location.

First with no zoom using a 4 second exposure gives a daytime appearance, second at 14x zoom reveals a parking lot, third with 56x reveals a dealership, and the fourth enhanced to about 400x.  No tripod was used.  The last image should demonstrate the camera's image excellent stabilization abilities at night.  The optional free CHDK software in the camera may extend these abilities much further.

Macro picture of a 1" IBM Microdrive assembly.

At the closest range of this lens, that one square inch device equals about 2500 pixels each direction, providing plenty of resolution to work with.  Color fringing from the super zoom lens may be seen in the extreme macro closeup.  The capacitors are about the size of salt grains.

Technical detail is shown of the three cathodes from a 19" color monitor illuminated by a white LED. These cathodes normally stream electrons charged at 29KV, just below what we define as the xray spectrum.

Eyefi configuration with Linux

Added source code by Dave Hansen licensed under the GPL to allow configuring of the eyefi card.  Source is 27KB, compile with "make".  Very easy to use minimal command line to scan networks, add, delete, etc...  No need for the original host computer with the vendor's massive bloated software ever again.  Mount the card and start configuring in seconds:

localhost eyefi-config-mainline # ./eyefi-config
Usage:
  eyefitest [OPTIONS]
-a ESSID      add network (implies test unless --force)
  -t ESSID      test network
-p KEY        set WPA key for add/test
  -r ESSID      remove network
  -s            scan for networks
  -c            list configured networks
  -b            reboot card
-f            print information about card firmware
-d level      set debugging level (default: 1)
  -k            print card unique key
  -l            dump card log
  -m            print card mac
